Position Summary:

The Remote Monitoring Center LP Associate is responsible for Loss Prevention functions in Remote Monitoring stores.  This position is non-exempt.  The Remote Monitoring Center Associate operates primarily out of the Remote Monitoring Center, located at the Belk corporate offices in Charlotte, NC.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:


  • Monitor security cameras from a remote location to aid in the apprehension of individuals involved in external and internal theft.
  • Ensure that all theft is investigated to a successful conclusion with arrests being made and completed documents and evidence submitted to court officials ensuring proper prosecution of all violators.
  • Act as a resource to store management during security-related incidents (vandalism, lost children, trespassed individuals, etc.).
  • Cooperate with local law enforcement.
  • Promote the Remote Monitoring program through verbal communication with store management and Regional Loss Prevention Managers (RLPMs).
  • Assist RLPMs and the Remote Monitoring Center Manager with investigations related to internal theft using Exception-Based reporting, video review and live surveillance.
  • Work with RLPMs and Remote Monitoring Center Manager to identify and apprehend individual involved in Organized Retail Theft (ORT).
  • Partner with store management on visual and merchandise placement to increase visibility of high theft areas and merchandise.
  • Assist the Remote Monitoring Center manager with tasks related to the addition and/or incorporation of new stores into the program.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Read and speak English
  • Ability to operate a computer
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Minimum 1 year experience in retail loss prevention 


  • Ability to operate standard phone, computer, calculator and other business machines
